Square Supra Ply speaker cable. The cable consists of braided, tin-plated copper conductors. Tinned conductors reduce electron hopping between strands, which causes phase shift and distortion. The soundstage and staging are clearer and more transparent with Ply cable than with traditional cable. The tin coating also prevents cable oxidation, especially in outdoor or car use.

Supra Ply concept

In a square speaker cable, the conductors remain in a flat shape side by side. The flat structure keeps the braided copper strands in precise order, close to each other. When the conductor strands are packed into a flat shape, insulated with thin insulation, and the wide sides are placed side by side, the capacitance of the cable increases significantly. Mathematically calculated theory shows that capacitance increases at the expense of inductance, which has a significantly greater effect in a speaker circuit. The adjacent + and - conductors thus increase the speaker's capacitance, which has little significance for the speaker's reproduction, which in turn reduces the cable's inductance, which has a greater effect on reproduction. In addition, tin-plated conductors reduce the hopping of electrons between conductors, i.e., prevent distortion caused by phase shift.

Shielded Ply cables also include a protective earth, which prevents interference caused by potential differences in the cable. This can also prevent electromagnetic radiation, which also affects electrical sensitivity.

The difference you'll notice in sound

Unlike many modern speaker cables, Ply's advantage is scientifically demonstrable and visible with measuring instruments. The images show the amount of loss in decibels with Ply cables and normal speaker cables where the conductors are separated.

A demanding square wave, which best corresponds to the transient signal in music, was fed to both cables. Such fast and dynamic variations can be found, for example, in piano, jazz, and acoustic music. The result speaks for itself: when using Ply, very little attenuation is visible, while a generic cable attenuates the 20 kHz range by a significant 10 decibels, which is more than three times the attenuation.
