Rega Arm Spacer 2mm
Many other manufacturers' cartridges have a deeper or taller body than Rega's, which may require the use of a spacer to ensure the rear of the cartridge has enough clearance and does not touch the record. If a Rega tonearm is installed on turntables from other manufacturers, spacers may also be needed to achieve the correct arm height.
When is a spacer needed?
A spacer is needed only when the rear of the cartridge cannot be lifted clear of the record and it touches the record surface during playback. On Rega turntables, spacers are generally not needed at all, unless an exceptionally deep-bodied cartridge is used.
In Rega's view, the rigidity and mechanical integrity of the arm mounting are more important than a continuous height adjustment mechanism. Rega recommends that the arm should be approximately parallel to the record surface or slightly lower at the mounting end.
Easy installation
The spacer is made of stainless steel – very rigid, precise, and minimizing resonances. It fits perfectly with Rega arms' three-point mounting: remove the arm, place the spacer between the arm and the plinth, reattach the arm with the original screws.
