Rega Arm Spacer 2mm – Tonearm lift piece
Many other manufacturers' cartridges have a deeper or taller body than Rega's, which may require the use of a spacer so that the back of the cartridge has sufficient clearance and does not touch the record. If a Rega tonearm is installed on turntables from other manufacturers, it may also be necessary to use spacers to achieve the correct arm height.
When is a spacer needed?
A spacer is needed only when the rear of the cartridge cannot be lifted clear of the record and hits the record surface during playback. On Rega turntables, spacers are generally not needed at all, unless an exceptionally deep-bodied cartridge is being used.
Rega's view is that the rigidity and mechanical integrity of the arm mounting are more important than a continuous height adjustment mechanism. Rega recommends that the arm should be approximately parallel to the record surface or slightly lower at the mounting end.
Easy installation
The spacer is made from precisely machined anodized aluminum – lightweight, rigid, and resonance-damping. It perfectly fits Rega arms' three-point mounting: remove the arm, place the spacer between the arm and the plinth, reattach the arm with the original screws.
