Technology in brief
- 1 New HDT C-CAM Cone - Taking inspiration from the RDT III cone technology of the Platinum series and Hyphn flagship, the HDT cone uses a honeycomb layer to make the cone maximally rigid in desired parts and controllably flexible in others.
- 2 New 6- and 8-inch Bass Drivers (Gold three-way models) - Made with HDT C-CAM cones, FEA-optimized outer and inner cone surrounds, and longer voice coils, these bass drivers operate linearly over a wider sound pressure range and reduce distortion for even cleaner and tighter bass.
- 3 New 6-inch Bass-Midrange Driver (Gold 50 and Gold On-Wall) - With an HDT C-CAM cone, FEA-optimized outer and inner cone surrounds, and a copper shorting ring in the motor, the new 6-inch bass-midrange driver reproduces cleanly to even higher frequencies. This reduces midrange distortion and creates a cleaner-sounding two-way speaker.
- 4 New 3-inch Midrange Driver - A very powerful neodymium magnet-based motor, progressively corrugated inner surround, improved voice coil cooling – all contribute to the Gold 6G's midrange driver producing less distortion, being more sensitive, tonally cleaner, and directionally perfectly suited for its purpose.
- 5 New Aluminum Midrange Enclosure - Behind the midrange driver is a sealed metal rear enclosure that isolates the sensitive driver from the bass enclosure volume. This optimizes midrange performance without needing to create a space-consuming separate enclosure solution for the bass within the main speaker cabinet.
- 6 New MPD III Tweeter - The Gold 6G's tweeter is directly based on the Hyphn and Platinum 3G's MPD III ribbon tweeter and has been optimized to perform as well as possible in the sixth-generation Gold series. The upper frequency limit of a typical pleated ribbon tweeter, or AMT driver, is around 40 kHz, but in the third generation of the MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) driver, it has been extended to 60 kilohertz. This also means even cleaner operation in the audible range. An integrated waveguide optimized for the MPD III completes the performance.
- 7 Cabinet Design - In the Gold 100 6G and Gold 500 6G models, the tweeter has been raised higher in the cabinet with an aluminum mounting plate, reducing cabinet diffractions in wider speaker models. This ensures excellent stereo imaging accuracy throughout the entire speaker range.
- 8 Newly Designed Crossover - The room always affects the speaker's sound significantly, and in the sixth-generation Gold series, this has been taken into account even more in the crossover design. Considering placement is particularly important for wall-mounted models like the Gold On-Wall speaker, whose installation environment is closer to custom install speakers than traditional hi-fi.
