Every component is built with timelessness in mind, so the 105 AER is crafted from premium materials: PVD-coated, cast zinc alloy mechanics, a stamped manganese spring steel headband, ABS-PC earcups, velour ear pads, and a soft PU leather headband. Combined with Meze's high ergonomic standards, the 105 AER is a pair of headphones that is not only highly flexible but also the lightest open-back Meze headphone to date.

Design

Meze Audio's 50mm dynamic driver architecture has proven to be highly reliable and versatile. To ensure consistent availability of the affordable 105 AER, minor production-expediting changes were made to the driver's diaphragm and frame, without compromising quality.

W-shaped dome

The dome, made from carbon fiber-reinforced cellulose composite, is capable of reproducing high frequencies with incredible detail, clarity, and precision. This composite is more durable than traditional alternatives used in dynamic drivers, yet lightweight, and helps reduce resonances that could lead to harmonic distortion.

Ultra-thin surround

The torus surrounding the dome is made from PEEK (polyether ether ketone), a semi-crystalline polymer with excellent mechanical properties. PEEK's high tensile strength and stiffness ensure that the diaphragm maintains structural integrity under high stress, while its light mass allows for faster response to audio signals. This enhances clarity and detail, making every note and nuance of your music come alive. Additionally, PEEK has excellent internal damping properties, reducing unwanted resonances and vibrations. Stiffness and durability are further enhanced by grooves in the surround, precisely placed at a 45.5-degree angle.

Resonance control

A copper-zinc alloy stabilizer placed around the diaphragm improves vibration absorption into the frame to further reduce distortion.

A slight emphasis on the bass and sub-bass regions allows for a deeper, more physical foundation for the music, enhancing the overall sense of immersion and adding an enjoyable depth to your music. Furthermore, the headphones are easy to drive from most devices, including mobile devices and home amplifiers.

Soft ear pads that feel sooooo comfortable

Velour ear pads comfortably surround the ears, providing optimal sealing for natural sound reproduction. As velour is much softer and more breathable than leather, it also prevents sweating and overheating of the ears during long listening sessions.
