Hifi Rose RD160 DA converter
The HiFi ROSE RD160 improves sound quality using advanced technology. It is designed to deliver cleaner and more precise sound through its digital processing module, separation of digital and analog signals, and a balanced circuit that preserves signal quality. Thanks to three independent power supplies and interference filters, it reproduces sounds with detail, bringing a new dimension to the audio experience.
Stylish and innovative design
The HiFi ROSE RD160 stands out with its unique and refined design. Milled from a single block of aluminum, its casing minimizes joints, reducing vibrations. Available in silver or black, it proudly features the famous embossed HiFi ROSE symbol on its top panel. The side panels incorporate heat-dissipating cooling fins that optimize the cooling of internal components.
The minimalist front panel conceals an OLED display that illuminates when the device is turned on, showing various real-time information such as the DAC's operating diagram, volume curve, and sound waves. Buttons and a rotary encoder offer direct and lag-free control, providing an intuitive analog experience despite the device's digital core.
Perfect connectivity for wide compatibility
The RD160 features a comprehensive range of digital connections suitable for all types of sources:
- USB Type-B 2.0 and USB optical fiber: up to 32 bit / 768 kHz, DSD512 native
- I2S (HDMI): up to 32 bit / 768 kHz, DSD512 native
- S/PDIF optical (Toslink): up to 24 bit / 192 kHz, DoP64
- S/PDIF coaxial (RCA and BNC): up to 32 bit / 384 kHz, DoP128
- AES/EBU (XLR): up to 32 bit / 384 kHz, DoP128
USB optical fiber for a clean and interference-free signal
The USB optical fiber connection is a significant feature of the RD160. It converts the electrical USB signal into an optical signal, thus eliminating interference and distortion caused by the source device. When combined with HiFi ROSE's RS130 streamer, which also supports this connection, the RD160 produces exceptionally pure sound.
ROSE CIM architecture for top-tier sound reproduction
The ROSE CIM (Completely Isolated and Moduled) architecture aims to maximize sound quality through complete isolation and modularization. The RD160 uses separate DAC modules for each channel and a dual-chip solution that fully isolates the digital signal processing and analog conversion stages. This ensures faithful and transparent reproduction of original hi-res audio data without distortion.
Three independent linear power supplies, specially designed for the digital input and analog output stages, effectively prevent power supply-induced interference. With exceptional balance, extremely low distortion, and noise levels, the RD160 delivers realistic and dynamic sound.
Timing at the heart of performance
In digital audio reproduction, precise timing is essential for optimal sound quality. The RD160 includes a high-precision OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) oscillator, ensuring excellent clock stability and accuracy. It can also be synchronized with an external master clock, such as the RS130 streamer. Connecting all digital components to the same reference clock completely eliminates jitter and allows for digital audio signal transmission with unprecedented purity.
What are the benefits of ROSE CIM architecture?
The ROSE CIM™ architecture offers several advantages: complete isolation between digital and analog stages through separate DAC modules per channel, the use of three separate power supplies for effective noise suppression, and the resulting pure and dynamic sound with extremely low distortion and minimal background noise.
Why is optical USB connectivity interesting?
Optical USB converts the electrical signal into a light signal, eliminating noise and distortion from the source. When combined with the RS130 streamer, which also supports this connection, the RD160 benefits from extremely clean digital signal transmission, ensuring optimal sound quality.
What is the advantage of using an external master clock with the RD160?
Connecting the RD160 and other digital components to a common master clock allows for their perfect synchronization. This completely eliminates jitter from S/PDIF or AES/EBU digital connections and ensures digital audio signal transmission with unprecedented purity, enabling optimal sound quality.
What are the connectivity options of the RD160?
The RD160 has numerous digital inputs: USB, optical USB, I2S, optical S/PDIF, coaxial, and AES/EBU. It is thus compatible with almost all digital sources on the market. Its symmetrical and asymmetrical analog outputs allow it to be connected to any hi-fi system.
