Genelec 8350A DSP Smart Active Monitor

The 8350A is an active DSP two-way loudspeaker from the SAM series.

The active 8350A DSP two-way loudspeaker elevates monitoring loudspeaker quality a step closer to perfection. Its performance matches that of significantly larger competitors, yet it is ideally suited for situations requiring high-quality sound reproduction in confined spaces. The 8350A is perfect for near-field monitoring in recording studios, project or home studios, audio workstation applications, radio or TV control rooms, and outdoor production vehicles.

The 8350A is a bass-reflex loudspeaker with optimized flow characteristics in its reflex port to minimize flow losses and flow-induced noise. The DCW waveguide integrated into the cabinet structure, along with the smooth shapes and rounded edges of the MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) cabinet, produces a very even frequency response not only on the acoustic axis but also in other sound radiation directions. In addition, this technology improves the accuracy of the stereo sound image and reduces listening fatigue.

The carefully designed, very steep DSP crossover delivers the signal to the speaker elements with very low distortion. The 8350A is magnetically shielded, overload protected, and its DSP provides unprecedentedly extensive room response correction tools. Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) is a combination of computer software and a speaker control network that allows automatic correction of speaker level calibration, delay differences due to distance variations, and changes in speaker response caused by room installation, using the AutoCal calibration system. The 8350A includes both analog and digital AES/EBU inputs. In addition, the AES/EBU signal can be daisy-chained forward via the output connector.

Each 8350A includes an Iso-Pod vibration isolation base that eliminates colorations caused by mechanical transmission of vibrations and isolates the speaker from its mounting surface. The Iso-Pod allows the acoustic axes of the speakers to be directed towards the listening position. In addition, the 8350A includes integrated mounting points on the back panel for wall and floor stands, and an M10 bottom thread.
