The active 8340A DSP two-way loudspeaker elevates monitor quality one step closer to perfection. Its performance rivals significantly larger competitors, yet it is perfectly suited for situations where high-quality audio reproduction is needed in confined spaces. The 8340A is an excellent choice for near-field monitoring in recording studios, project or home studios, audio workstation applications, radio or TV control rooms, and outside broadcast vans.

The 8340 is a bass reflex loudspeaker, with optimized flow characteristics for its reflex port to minimize flow losses and turbulence noise. The DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) integrated into the enclosure structure, along with the soft shapes and rounded edges of the MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) cabinet, produces a very even frequency response not only on the acoustic axis but also in other sound radiation directions. Furthermore, this technology improves stereo imaging accuracy and reduces listening fatigue.

The redesigned DSP crossover delivers signals to loudspeaker elements with very low distortion. The 8340A is magnetically shielded, overload protected, and its DSP offers an unprecedented range of room response correction tools. Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) is a combination of computer software and a loudspeaker control network that allows automatic level calibration, delay differences due to distance variations, and changes in the loudspeaker's response caused by room placement to be corrected using the AutoCal calibration system. The 8340A includes both analog and digital AES/EBU inputs. In addition, the AES/EBU signal can be daisy-chained forward via the output connector.

Each 8340A includes an Iso-Pod vibration isolation base, which eliminates colorations caused by mechanical vibration transmission and isolates the loudspeaker from its mounting surface. The Iso-Pod allows the acoustic axes of the loudspeakers to be aimed towards the listening position. In addition, the 8340A includes integrated mounting points on the rear panel for wall and floor stands, and an M10 base thread.
