2-DIN player installation kit.
Compatibility:
- BMW – 3 Series (46) (1998 – 2005
This kit allows you to install a 2-DIN player in your car. The kit also includes a steering wheel remote control adapter, which allows your car's original steering wheel buttons to work with the aftermarket player (check the features of your player to make sure this function works).
Included in the package:
- 2-DIN plastic frame
- Antenna adapter
- Steering wheel remote control adapter
- Instrument-specific Multilead for e.g. Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer instruments.
Note:
- These cars are available with a Quadlock connector as well as a 17-pin BMW connector. This kit comes with both options.
- These cars are available with a Fakra antenna connector as well as a DIN antenna connector. This set comes with both options.
- The player's position has to be adjusted,
Required accessories:
- If the car has a BMW Navigation Professional (navigation unit in the trunk of the car), an extension cable from the trunk to the player is required:
- AH-EXTC-BMW1 (if the navigation unit has a 17-pin BMW connector)
- AH-EXTC-BMW2 (if the navigation unit has a Quadlock connector)
- If the car does not have a factory-installed BMW navigation system, the above-mentioned AH-EXTC-BMW1 / **BMW2 cable is not required, but the air conditioning buttons must be moved above the ashtray. Depending on the car, there are four different options for this, including the original BMW part numbers:
- 51 16 8 202 186 = Single buttons, no ashtray
- 51 16 8 230 902 = Single buttons, with ashtray
- 51 16 7 001 408 = Buttons together, with ashtray
- 51 16 7 001 410 = Buttons together, with ashtray
- If the car has a Harman & Kardon sound system in addition to the above-mentioned instruments, the car may require the 13-1190-50 active adapter, but as a rule, 99% of cars equipped with Harman Kardon do not need this adapter.
- The installation location for the E46 player is very tight and may require modification of the air conditioning control levers.
