Thanks to the new HXDT driver technology, our flagship ATH-ADX7000 Open-Air headphones offer the most natural, open and comfortable listening experience ever achieved with Audio-Technica's open-air headphones.

The bass reproduction is exceptionally full and powerful for open-air headphones – emphatic, yet precisely controlled. In the mid-range, subtle details emerge naturally and with astonishing clarity, bringing instruments to vivid presence and creating an excellent sense of space and precise placement within the soundstage. The upper mid-range and treble are balanced: expansive and refined, but without harshness or softness. The result is an intimate vocal presence and naturally realistic transient reproduction.

This natural, full-frequency sound is achieved by controlling every stage of driver manufacturing, from design and construction to final integration. Our HXDT molding process produces an extremely circular 58mm diaphragm – a precision essential for achieving the finest musical expression. We combine the diaphragm with other driver components (baffle, magnet, and voice coil) by centering them with exceptional precision. This precise alignment enhances energy transfer from the magnet to the coil and finally to the diaphragm, which in turn can move more freely and controllably.

The earcups are made of lightweight aluminum and feature a honeycomb open-air structure, providing optimal ventilation. Airflow to the diaphragm is improved by precisely positioning the driver within the housing using our unique Core Mount technology. The combination of HXDT technology and the Open-Air structure ensures that sound can travel unimpeded directly from the diaphragm – resulting in an even more accurate, dynamic, and detailed reproduction.

The ATH-ADX7000 includes two interchangeable pairs of earpads: dense velvet and Alcantara. The dense velvet material dampens unwanted resonances and provides a balanced sound. Alcantara is a luxurious and durable option that enhances bass emphasis and softens the treble.

The frame is crafted from a thin, rigid magnesium alloy, which provides structural strength and stability while keeping the headphones extremely lightweight (275g with velvet pads, 265g with Alcantara pads). The magnesium frame also helps dampen micro-vibrations produced by the powerful voice coil, reducing coloration and improving sound purity. The result is excellent wearing comfort and uncompromising sound quality.

Included are two detachable, nylon-braided 3.0m (9.8’) cables with A2DC connectors for the headphones: a balanced cable with a 4-pin XLRM connector and a 6.3mm gold-plated stereo plug for single-ended systems. Each pair of headphones is individually laser-engraved with a serial number and comes in a compact hard carrying case.

The ATH-ADX7000 offers rich, natural bass reproduction and smooth, clear mid and upper-mid ranges. The open-air design allows for unimpeded airflow, producing an authentic, lively listening experience with excellent spatial awareness and precise stereo imaging. The included interchangeable earpads – dense velvet pads designed for balanced sound and Alcantara pads offering richer, warmer reproduction – allow the listener to customize the listening experience to their preferences.

Unique driver – unparalleled

The innovative manufacturing process of the HXDT driver produces an extremely precisely formed diaphragm, which is essential for top-tier open-air headphones. All round driver components – including the baffle, magnet, voice coil, and diaphragm – are precisely aligned. This allows the diaphragm to move consistently, improves transient response, and results in cleaner and more natural sound reproduction.
