Patented Performance

S-Series subwoofers utilize numerous patented Alpine solutions that you won't find from any other brand:

• Patented magnet design, which ensures a symmetrical magnetic field and minimizes distortion (US Pat#6639993)
• Patented voice coil cooling, where cool air is directed to the voice coil from behind the magnet, and warm air is removed from the voice coil through the chassis' ventilation channels (US Pat #7684585)
• Patented H.A.M.R. surround, which allows for better control of the cone's excursion than traditional surrounds (US Pat #8208677)
• Patented progressive spider with integrated silver leads, which prevents potential mechanical interference noises (US Pat #6810988)

H.A.M.R. - High Amplitude Multi-Roll

H.A.M.R. is Alpine's patented surround. Compared to traditional surrounds, the H.A.M.R. surround keeps the cone's excursion significantly more linear, especially when, at higher volumes, a conventional surround starts to behave independently.

Carbon Fiber/Polypropylene Cone

The S-Series subwoofer's cone material is a combination of carbon fiber and polypropylene. Thanks to the light but rigid cone, the 12" element's response extends down to 23 Hertz, producing distortion-free and pleasant bass reproduction across its entire frequency range, regardless of music style.

Dual Voice Coils and Proper Cooling

The Alpine S2-W12D4 features two four-ohm voice coils. The subwoofer comes with "jumpers" that allow you to easily make the desired connection. The spring-loaded terminals are located side by side, which makes connecting even easier. Up to 8mm² speaker cable can be used with the terminals.

The best amplifier for the S-Series subwoofer is the Alpine S2-A60M mono amplifier from the same model series.
