With over 130 years of experience, Yamaha has evolved into one of the world's leading audio companies. The M-5000 device embodies this principle with its artisanal craftsmanship that respects tradition and its market-leading innovations, while serving as a prime example of ultra-high-quality audio reproduction.
Engineered for performance
The meticulously designed M-5000 features a perfectly symmetrical configuration that separates the left and right channels both physically and electrically.
The deliberately simple structure also minimizes the signal path as much as possible, prevents energy loss, and results in lower impedance for highly accurate audio reproduction.
Floating and balanced MOSFET power amplifier
Compared to traditional power amplifiers where current is supplied through a power transistor and negative polarity is connected to ground, the M-5000's power supply is directly connected to all positive and negative output terminals.
Floating the entire power amplifier circuit from ground prevents any unwanted effects of small voltage fluctuations or ground noise on the audio reproduction.
This design also provides an ideal symmetrical configuration for the use of MOSFET power amplifiers and improves the controllability of low impedance speakers.
Robust chassis construction with mechanical grounding concept
The M-5000 has been designed from the ground up to minimise rigidity - reducing unwanted vibration for optimal sonic performance.
Furthermore, using the mechanical grounding concept and attaching the power amplifier, coupling capacitors, and heatsink directly to the robust and streamlined structure with bolts ensures that the components are fully supported and the impact of vibration is eliminated.
Massive toroidal core transformer and low impedance structure
To produce Hi-Fi performance, a 3-millimeter thick brass base is used in conjunction with the massive toroidal transformer to prevent unwanted vibration.
In addition, due to less flux leakage, the power transformer also does not affect surrounding audio circuits.
Copper wires from the winding core enable low impedance by significantly reducing energy loss compared to traditional designs.
Thick wires and screw-type connections for power supply
Thick wires and screw-type connections contribute to the M-5000 amplifier's low impedance design and reduce energy loss typically occurring in conventional connections and wiring configurations.
The use of screws and brass connections directly in the coupling capacitors instead of soldering provides a strong connection with low impedance.
Specially crafted feet
The M-5000 is a flagship model, with even the smallest details considered in its design. Its structure exudes masterful craftsmanship and a passion for achieving the best possible performance.
The same applies to the device's feet. Uniquely designed, robust brass feet are either fully supported by spikes or with scratch protectors for delicate surfaces.
Stunning, large meters reflect the dynamics of music
The front panel of the M-5000 features large and highly accurate meters, allowing listeners to visualize the dynamics of the music.
The high-quality meters, 7 millimeters thick and made of Asahi glass, further complement the M-5000's luxurious and exceptionally elegant visual appearance.
Premium speaker terminals
The M-5000 amplifier uses oversized, screw-type speaker terminals for ease of use and secure connections. Yamaha's original design, utilizing pure brass, is based on meticulous attention to detail and premium quality.
The 3-millimeter thick terminal plate is made of brass for durability, and the plate helps reduce sound distortion due to its non-magnetic properties.
