Wharfedale Super LINTON Speaker Pair with LINTON Stand
The new Wharfedale SUPER LINTON represents a significant step forward in innovation for Wharfedale and is a unique addition to the globally best-selling Heritage series.
This updated model joins a series of award-winning loudspeakers renowned for their exceptional musicality, having captured the hearts of tens of thousands of music lovers. Under the guidance of Wharfedale's Director of Acoustic Design, Peter Comeau, engineers re-evaluated every aspect of the loudspeaker – the cabinet, the drivers, and the crossover. These efforts resulted in the revitalized Super Linton.
SUPER LINTON loudspeakers are now available in three different finishes: Walnut, Mahogany, and Black Oak.
This update offers more choice and refined aesthetics for aficionados of the hi-fi world.
OVERVIEW
The current version of the Wharfedale LINTON speakers was launched in 2019 and has since become one of the company's most successful loudspeakers of all time! This isn't just about the number of pairs sold, but also the awards achieved, the accolades received, and the glowing reviews from hi-fi enthusiasts and the press alike.
As part of Wharfedale's world-renowned Heritage series, the LINTON can confidently and proudly claim to be one of the most impressive loudspeaker models in its price range in recent times.
The LINTON is not just an exception in terms of design, construction, and style; its industrial design and acoustic performance have garnered widespread acclaim. It is a loudspeaker that brings musicality back to music and romance back to home hi-fi systems.
Still at the peak of its popularity and one of the most sought-after loudspeakers on the market, the LINTON isn't going anywhere. It remains one of the brightest jewels in Wharfedale's Heritage series.
What makes it "super"?
Just like the original "Super" concept, the new SUPER LINTON benefits from an enlarged cabinet and Wharfedale's unique sandwich construction cabinet. This construction combines two layers of MDF with a layer of acoustic damping glue in between. This innovative combination significantly reduces cabinet resonances, improving sound clarity and accuracy.
Thanks to these improvements, the SUPER LINTON offers an even more dynamic and musical sound quality, taking the listening experience to a new level.
New technologies improve sound quality
- Even deeper bass: A new bass driver and a more powerful motor system improve low-frequency reproduction, extending down to an astonishing 32 Hz! This adds more drama and power to the bass response, making the lower end of the sound impressive and emotive.
- More nuanced treble: The SUPER LINTON speaker's treble reproduction is handled by a lightweight fabric dome tweeter, coated with a special damping material. Supporting the dome is a ceramic magnet motor, enabling precise and sweet, detailed treble. Furthermore, a redesigned short horn design ensures a smooth response up to the upper midrange, and a new front baffle design improves high-frequency dispersion, complementing the bass driver's transient response and level of detail.
- More natural midrange: A new, improved chamber has been developed for the midrange driver, which eliminates typical backward-propagating sound waves in the midrange through several layers of long fibers. This design brings out vocals and instruments more naturally and present, creating a more accurate and emotionally engaging listening experience.
Familiar LINTON DNA, but updated
While the SUPER LINTON is immediately recognizable as a member of the LINTON family, its appearance has undergone subtle updates. However, the biggest changes are found in the driver system and cabinet dimensions.
Taller build:
The SUPER LINTON is a modest 50 mm (2 inches) taller than the current LINTON model. However, this small increase in height does not affect the speaker's footprint or placement requirements. The SUPER LINTON is designed to be used with the same LINTON Stand, ensuring optimal placement and retaining the popular vinyl record storage capability.
Overall, the SUPER LINTON combines the familiar and beloved LINTON style with subtle enhancements that add more dimension to both its appearance and performance.
