The Planar 2 was developed over two years alongside the new Planar 3. It features a new RB220 tonearm, a quiet 24V synchronous motor, a high-gloss acrylic finish, and a redesigned central bearing. Every detail is engineered to maximize sound accuracy and detail reproduction.

Its modern design and high-gloss finish make it a decorative highlight, and its sound does justice to any vinyl collection – be it jazz, rock, or classical.

New RB220 Tonearm – Performance and Ease of Use
The RB220 tonearm is packed with innovative features that enhance sound quality and make setup exceptionally easy.

The tonearm features Rega-designed ultra-low friction bearings (patent pending) mounted in a new, stiffer and lighter bearing housing. Since autumn 2020, the RB220 has been equipped with an adjustable anti-skating function, improving compatibility with a wider range of cartridges.

New Color – Walnut Finish
A stylish new walnut finish was introduced in November 2022. This version combines a natural look with Rega's signature design language.

Note: The walnut-finished Planar 2 comes with a smoked dustcover as standard. Other colors come with a clear dustcover.

Update May 2024:
Now available with the factory-preinstalled new Rega Nd3 cartridge (MM), utilizing advanced neodymium magnet technology. The result: an even more open soundstage and superb dynamism – especially for lovers of musical detail.
