The secret to the speaker's sound lies in Q Acoustics' Dual Gelcore cabinet construction, which eliminates unwanted vibrations and resonances within the speaker enclosure, preventing them from muddying the outgoing sound. Special attention has also been paid to the included stand, which utilizes the principle of tensegrity – the interplay of tension and integrity. In practice, this means the speaker appears to "float" in the air, as there is no direct contact surface in the traditional sense between the speaker's floating base plate and the stand.

Component technology has also been invested in, refined from its larger sibling, the Concept 500.
