Monitor Audio Silver FX is a surround speaker designed for wall installations, tuned to match the sound of the series' main speakers. The speaker's directivity pattern can be selected between dipolar and bipolar using a DIP switch on the speaker. The speaker creates a wider soundstage than traditional speaker models and does not localize as strongly as a sound source as more traditional speaker models that primarily radiate sound directly.

If you are looking for a direct radiating surround speaker model to accompany your Silver series speakers, but the Silver 50 in the series is too large, then the Monitor Audio Radius 90 and 225 models are an excellent choice to accompany the main speakers of the Silver series. Both models can also be wall-mounted.

Finish is not a side issue

The most important feature of a speaker is, of course, its sound quality, but visual factors also weigh in. The finish of the Silver series could easily belong to speakers in a higher price category. The front panel is elegantly designed without visible screw heads, and the terminals on the rear panel are proper binding posts that can accommodate speaker cables with a slightly larger cross-section. Several genuine wood veneers, as well as piano black and matte white options, are available as finishes.
