Monitor Audio's new Platinum 300 3G is the flagship floorstanding speaker of the new Platinum 3G series. The new Platinum 3G series encapsulates Monitor Audio's 50 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality and technically refined loudspeakers. The new Platinum 300 3G is a pure-bred 3-way floorstanding speaker, as part of whose development Monitor Audio also released new versions of its reference series MPD and RDT drivers. The new Platinum series speakers offer both class-leading finish quality and a sound that brings a smile to your face.

The Monitor Audio Platinum 300 3G, with the help of two 8″ RDT III drivers, provides extended and dynamic bass reproduction that reaches down to 20Hz in a normal room. The new 4″ RDT III midrange driver is seamlessly matched to both the MPD III tweeter and the speaker's two 8″ RDT III bass drivers. The midranges of the Platinum 300 3G are reproduced cleanly, offering an excellent cross-section of the most sensitive hearing area for the human ear; vocalists' tones are reproduced with tangible authenticity and presence. The package is crowned by a detailed and brightly sounding tweeter that does not, however, fall into the cold, clinical, and lifeless tonal spectrum. The overall sound works well with various types of music and movies.

Robust Construction and Technical Innovations.

The Platinum 300 3G utilizes the RDT III bass and midrange drivers and the MPD III tweeter developed for the new Platinum series. These drivers represent the absolute pinnacle of the market in terms of their features and performance.

RDT III is a composite material that provides an extremely rigid and lightweight cone. Compared to the previous generation RDT II drivers, the distortion values of the new RDT III driver have further decreased, while the driver's sensitivity and power handling have increased. RDT III is a cone formed by a honeycomb-shaped carbon fiber frame and a surface-sprayed C-CAM alloy that functions like an optimal piston. The lightweight and rigid construction enables dynamic, fast, and distortion-free reproduction even when using high volume levels.

The mass of the MPD III tweeter is a fraction of the mass of a traditional dome tweeter, yet it has a significantly larger functional surface area (approximately 8x larger than a traditional one-inch dome). The tweeter's response extends up to 60kHz, and all negative coloration of the reproduction has been pushed far above the human hearing threshold. The shape of the tweeter, combined with the waveguide fitted in front of it, ensures a consistent directivity pattern and excellent integration with the speaker's bass/midrange driver. Due to its large functional surface area, the MPD III tweeter is also capable of producing high sound pressure levels without compression and high distortion.

Top-Class Finish and Build Quality.

Platinum series speakers utilize a multi-layered and heavily braced cabinet structure, which achieves an exceptionally rigid and acoustically dead enclosure. When cabinet vibrations do not color the reproduced signal, the result is more faithful to the recording. The beautiful real wood veneers and multi-layered piano lacquers produce a finish that withstands presentation in even the most opulent environments.
