ESB Audio 9.6W 6.5"/165 mm Woofer (pair)
Key Features
- The pole cup, designed with magnetic flux analysis software, helps achieve a perfect and homogeneous magnetic gap saturation for the benefit of the voice coil movement. Always immersed in a constant magnetic flux, this reduces distortion and increases dynamics.
- Oversized neodymium magnet: This extremely powerful magnet is made of high-temperature resistant neodymium and allows for a significant reduction in the size and mass of the magnetic motor. An equivalent magnetic force from a traditional ferrite magnet would require larger speaker dimensions.
- The pole piece with special ventilation ensures the long life of the voice coil.
- Terminals accept large cables and are gold-plated to prevent power loss from the amplifier.
- The die-cast aluminum and powder-coated basket offers extremely low resistance to air passage, and its shape (verified by FEM analysis) reduces vibration and resonance.
- A special spider device, screwed to the central pole, ensures the fastening of the spider damper.
- The Conex™ spider damper is inside the voice coil with a balanced and progressive stiffness for perfectly controlled movement.
- The huge voice coil ensures the highest power handling in its class and guarantees unparalleled speaker dynamics. The design of this voice coil ensures that it remains fully immersed in the magnetic field for most of its movement, minimizing distortion. The voice coil former is made of aluminum with ventilation holes and black anodization for improved heat dissipation. Underhung voice coil: the length of the voice coil winding is shorter than the height of the magnetic gap. This design allows for lower distortion at smaller movements and more precise control of voice coil movement.
- The cone is made of vacuum and autoclave-molded high-modulus carbon, a technology rarely used in speakers due to its cost, but it brings tremendous benefits in terms of naturalness of reproduction and high transient dynamics.
- The NBL rubber surround has a shape designed to ensure very smooth movement with very small displacement, becoming increasingly controlled as the movement increases and approaches its limit. This also helps make this speaker highly dynamic and capable of handling high power.
- A CNC-machined aluminum ring secures the rubber surround to the edge, ensuring perfect fastening and centering.
- CNC-machined aluminum protection grille (optional).
