ESB Audio 9.4M 4"/100 mm Cone Midrange (pair)
Key Features
- The magnetic pole piece, designed with magnetic flux analysis software, helps achieve a perfect and homogeneous magnetic gap saturation for the benefit of the voice coil movement. This reduces distortion and increases dynamics.
- A pure copper ring placed in the air gap helps reduce the voice coil's inductance, providing minimal resistance during high-frequency reproduction. This means improved high-frequency response, allowing the speaker to reproduce high-frequency sounds more accurately. Reducing inductance enhances the handling of rapid transitions in audio signals. This can improve the speaker's ability to reproduce transient sound pulses more precisely.
- TCA controls the airflow moved by the cone and creates an aperiodic damping resistance, ensuring that the energy accumulated in the speaker's movement is released in a controlled and rapid manner without persistent oscillations. This contributes to a more accurate and faithful response to the sound source, as well as precision and overall sound quality.
- Dual-coupled neodymium main magnets. This pair of high-temperature resistant neodymium magnets is one of the most powerful magnetic motor systems for an automotive midrange speaker of this size. They are made of high-quality neodymium and allow for a significant reduction in the size and mass of the magnetic motors.
- Pole plate CNC machined from a single piece of ultra-low carbon steel.
- Integrated, robust terminals accept large cables and are gold-plated to prevent power loss from the amplifier.
- The die-cast aluminum and powder-coated basket offers very low resistance to airflow, and its shape (verified by FEM analysis) reduces vibration and resonance.
- A wide, lightweight Nomex voice coil with aluminum winding significantly contributes to broad bandwidth extension.
- A large balanced Conex™ spider damper ensures linear movement in both directions, reducing distortion.
- The cone is made of vacuum and autoclave molded high-modulus carbon, a technology rarely used in speakers due to its cost, but which offers huge advantages in terms of natural reproduction and high transient dynamics.
- The NBL rubber surround has a shape designed to ensure very smooth movement with very small displacement, becoming increasingly controlled as movement increases and approaches its limit. This also helps make this speaker very dynamic and capable of handling high power.
- A laminated aluminum dust cap helps extend the frequency response of this midrange upwards, and its shape and size help to flatten and linearize the frequency response.
- A CNC-machined aluminum ring secures the rubber surround to the edge, ensuring perfect attachment and centering.
- CNC-machined aluminum protection grille (optional).
